Body:
Penny was Originally Pewter, then copper (yes), but now has 2 fresh coats of PPG semi-gloss-black primer applied 03/02/08: good enough for track, good enough to get the car around, not good enough for showing, but a good start for your paint job. Interior: Stripped of all interior dressing with the exception of the headliner & sunroof panel for thermal protection. Only the instrument pod, shifter, & pair of blue/black Corbeau racing seats remain. There is no AC/heating, console, dash, quarters, rear seats, door panels, or carpeting in Penny as she was destined for the track. Great glass, flawless windshield. Transaxle:
-Stock ¡¦81 transaxle & torque tube: Soft syncro¡¦s for 1st, reverse. 2nd and 3rd will grind with very-fast shifting, but & 4th & 5th are perfect. Transaxle has 2.75 rear end (short gears for a 928), so for most courses and with the V8, 4th & 5th are most commonly used. Shift linkage was rebuilt: new front pivot bushing on front of shaft, center support for front shaft has been reinforced, new shifter springs & bushings, a new rear shaft was substituted for worn rear shaft, & rear u-joint was rebuilt with new bushings.
