April - Hot Springs Breakfast Club and Tech Session at the Trinkles
Photos provided by Josep Requena
The Ozark Region was busy this month. In addition to several fun runs and the
biggest meeting in recent history, the momentum continued at the Hot Springs
Breakfast Club. Held this month in the home of very enthusiastic Ozark Region
members, JoAnne and Robert Trinkle, both the breakfast and a detailed technical
session were carried out in the distinctly "Porsche Rich" Trinkle environment
and featured "Helga", their beautiful "lil' red" 356 C coupe.
The breakfast fare was well received by the 19 visiting members and absolutely
no one left hungry. A door prize of a factory Carrera Cup Polo shirt was won by
a very surprised Josep Requena. Afterwards Robert Trinkle professionally led the
tech session on the planning and mechanics of Concours (and normal) car
preparation. "Helga" was the subject of this demonstration and a regular
plethora of Griot's Garage car care products were used to make the little red
car shine like a new penny! Topics included proper sequencing of the products
and which application techniques were best in different situations. The interior
of the car was not neglected with both leather and vinyl care covered in detail
along with hints on keeping the cars clean under various weather conditions.
Many of us who were in attendance were just as interested in these techniques
for their usefulness in the normal maintenance of our non-Concours cars.
Techniques were demonstrated such as how to care for a car that is simply dusty
and not ready for a complete wash and wax job. Robert covered when to use
orbital polishers and clay, and which bottled products are both kind to the
car's finish, and last the longest. Everyone came away with a much better
understanding of the techniques in car care that will help Ozark Region members
retain the value of their cars, while not having to work quite as hard to keep
them that way.
